A Farmer\'s Struggle Story to Success

Shiv Kumar Mahato,  faced a daunting challenge. Uneducated himself, his dream was to provide a good education for his four sons. But with a meager monthly income of NPR 8,000 from his 5 katha of land, and three sons working as laborers in Punjab, that dream seemed distant. Traditional farming practices yielded little, leaving him discouraged. However, a turning point came when he was selected from Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal. The off-season agriculture training he received equipped him with modern techniques, including fertilizer use, nursery setup, and improved cultivation methods. Putting these skills into practice, his production soared. Now, cultivating 10 katha, he earns NPR 35,000-40,000 per season. Shiv Kumar is saving NPR 200 monthly in his farmer group, Radha Krishna Krishi Samuh, and his family is supporting his efforts. He hopes his youngest son will secure a government job, ensuring a brighter future. Shiv Kumar now shares his knowledge with neighboring farmers, spreading the benefits of his newfound skills. "
