1. Financial Operational System
Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal (BWSN) has a practice of using digital financial management system designed to ensure accuracy, transparency, and efficiency in its accounting processes. Utilizing a hybrid double entry system based on both cash and accrual principles, BWSN integrates modern technology with sound financial practices to maintain rigorous control over its financial operations. The core of BWSN’s accounting system revolves around the use of FAMAS (Financial Accounting Management and Administrative System) and IPAS (Integrated Financial and Personnel Administration System) software. These widely recognized platforms automate multiple accounting functions, significantly minimizing manual errors and enhancing precision in financial calculations and data entry.
2. Evidence Generation and Program Operational System
Similarly, Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal (BWSN) employs CommCare software to maintain a comprehensive database of right holders, enabling efficient tracking and follow-up of their cases. For surveys and research activities, BWSN uses Kobotool, which facilitates household assessments and needs evaluations through carefully prepared and piloted questionnaires. This tool proves invaluable in both developmental and humanitarian sectors by streamlining data collection and ensuring accuracy. For maintaining a database of respondents, have been using Google Sheets, which provides a flexible and accessible platform for organizing, updating, and managing respondent information efficiently.
3. WASH Operational System
In the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program, BWSN utilizes WASH Info software to map and monitor water and sanitation points, enhancing program management through real-time data visualization. Additionally, Watermark software is in practice for water billing, meter reading, bookkeeping, inventory management, human resources, and asset management.
4. Information Education and Communication System
BWSN has a practice of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) system to effectively disseminate knowledge and promote behavioral change within its target communities. Develops well crafted informational and infographic materials that are designed to be clear, engaging, and culturally relevant in Nepali, English and local language. These materials cover key topics aligned with the organization’s thematic areas namely Health, Education, Nutrition/Livelihood, WASH, Emergency, Governance and Injury Prevention, enhancing awareness and understanding among diverse audiences.
The IEC content is widely distributed across multiple digital platforms to maximize reach and engagement. BWSN actively utilizes popular social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, enabling interactive communication and broad sharing opportunities. These platforms allow BWSN to connect dynamically with different demographic groups, particularly youth and marginalized populations, fostering greater community involvement. In addition to social media outreach, BWSN maintains an official website that serves as a centralized hub for disseminating educational content, project updates, and resource materials. The website ensures accessibility of information for stakeholders including local government partners, community members, and development practitioners, supporting transparency and continual knowledge exchange.
