Rabina\'s Inspiring Journey: A Testimony

We are proud to share the remarkable story of Rabina Kumari Tharu, a resilient young woman from Haripurwa Municipality-9 in Sarlahi. Currently in grade 12, Rabina comes from a humble family of four, with her father working as a farmer and her mother managing the household. Their livelihood relies on the income generated from agriculture.

Rabina’s journey took a transformative turn when her brother enrolled in a program run by Bagmati Welfare Society Nepal in partnership with World Vision. Inspired by his experience, Rabina seized the opportunity to participate in a 10-day Rupantaran Life and Protective Skills training. This training became a milestone in her life, equipping her with vital knowledge about community safety, child rights, social inclusion, reproductive health, and self-defense.

Before this training, Rabina was a shy girl who struggled to engage with others. However, the Rupantaran training ignited a newfound confidence within her. She now actively participates in discussions and engages with her community members. As a peer educator since January, Rabina has been conducting Rupantaran sessions that not only support her education but also help her family financially.

Through her sessions, Rabina is making a significant impact by educating others about critical issues like child marriage and substance abuse. She takes her role seriously, reporting any concerning incidents to the appropriate authorities, ensuring her community remains a safe space for everyone. Rabina is dedicated to preventing child marriage, advocating for her own future and that of her peers. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and community support.
